Product description

The 1966/67 season remains as the ultimate legendary season for Celtic Glasgow after winning five trophies: European Cup, Scottish First Division, Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup and Glasgow Cup.

These trophies mark a year of remarkable performances, but it all came down to the 25th of May when The Hoops won 2-1 against the Italian side Inter Milan with a “Dutch speeded-up style” (Jimmy Johnstone) and by “playing football. Pure, beautiful, inventive football.” as the coach Jock Stein stated.

Held at the Portuguese Estádio Nacional, the match remains up until today as the greatest achievement from the 1887 founded club with 50th Anniversary celebrations held throughout the 2017/2018 season. During this season, the club´s crest was specially designed and the kits had a line on each side to represent the handles of the European Cup.

Even today, the nickname Lisbon Lions remembers football enthusiasts of the first British team to win a European cup with a group of lads where 14 of the 15 players were raised locally within a 10-mile radius from Celtic Park. Only Bobby Lennox travelled 30 miles from Saltcoats to sign for The Bhoys.
