Some say Jesus is Brazilian but, one thing everyone knows is that football in Brasil is embedded in the streets. It´s much more than mere football matches played in the stadiums.

It is a living entity within the streets and the Favelas – an extension of the social wars, of the dreams of each one expressed via Ginga (dribble in Brasil) and samba like slaloms.

For the Country of Football that was introduced to this sport around the 1880s, it lives the Fla-Flu derby in one of the most epic football venues: The Maracanã.

With more than 75 thousands seats, it registered around 194 thousand spectators in 1963 (it´s still a world record).

A rivalry born in the 1910s when a group of players changed from Fluminense to Flamengo.

The years have passed and both teams claim the throne, not just in the Brasilian football scene but also in The Libertadores Cup and around the world where Flamengo is said to have the biggest fan base worldwide.

The “Clássico das Multidões” (Classic of the Crowds) also described as the Karamazov brothers of football (due to the arguments between journalists from the two clubs) could not be so special without having central figures as you would see in other Classico´s such as the Derby della Madonnina.

Fluminense and Flamengo have displayed in these matches, superstars like Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Thiago Silva, Romário, Bebeto, Leonardo and even The Imperador, Adriano.
